MYROBOLAN ROOTSTOCK
- Since Myrobolan B, Myrobolan GF 31 rootstocks form large sized crown, more growing Myrobolan 29-C has gained importance in last years.
- They are in the same group with green group (P. cerasifera) plums and is the most commonly used rootstock for plums including the heavy textured soils.
- Myrobolan 29-C rootstock is a semi-dwarf rootstock and forms trees at a size of 70-80% of the Mrobolon generative rootstock.
- Resistant to root tumor nematode but sensitive to cancer and oak root fungi.
- It has a moderate long root system.
- 3-3.5m gaps on the line and 4.5-5m gaps between the lines are good for those on Myroboloan 29 C clone.
MARIANA ROOTSTOCKS
- It was regenerated by crossbreeding the P. Cerasifera x P. Munsoniana plum species in California.
- Mariana GF 8-1, Mariana 2624 are most important ones. Mariana GF 8-1 rootstock develops shallow root system.
- It is resistant to colds. It can be planted in different soils including heavy textured ones.
- It has tolerance for Ptoptohora, oak root cancer diseases, is resistant to root tumor nematode, and sensitive to bacterial cancer and Crown Gall diseases.
- Compatibility with all plum species is good but have incompatibility with some peach, nectarine and almond types.
ISHTARA, (Ferciana)
- It is a semi-dwarf rootstock, a hybrid of plum and peach.
- It can also be used for peach, nectarine, apricot, and almonds besides the plum species.
- It allows the specie on it to ripen early and has a positive effect on fruit size.
- Resistant to oak root nematode, sensitive to bacterial cancer.
SAINT JULIEN ROOTSTOCK
- It was generated from P. insitia plum type.
- The most important ones among these rootstocks are Saint Julien A and Saint Julien 655/2 rootstocks and they are semi-dwarf.
- They don't enjoy heavy textured soils.
- They can be used as rootstock for peach, nectarine and apricots besides the plums.
- It positively affects the productivity of the specie on it.
- Non-resistant to extreme colds and recommended for well-drained soils.
- Widely used in UK and Spain.
JULIOR ROOTSTOCKS
- Generated upon crossbreeding the Saint Julien and P. domestica plum species.
- It is a semi-dwarf rootstock used in plum, peach and apricots.
